Transitional Kindergarten Teacher - Ed Specialist; Intensive Needs Classroom at Napa Valley Unified School District

Sara Featherstone has a diverse range of work experience in the field of education. Sara started their career in 2001 as a Lead Pre-K Teacher at Childrens Cottage Preschool, where they worked until 2008. During this time, they gained experience in managing and instructing young students.

In 2008, Sara joined Napa Valley College as a State Preschool Teacher and Mentor Teacher for the Early Childhood Program. In addition to teaching preschool and pre-K students, they also mentored adult students completing lab hours in their classroom. Sara was responsible for conducting assessments, parent-teacher conferences, and providing guidance to the adults.

From 2018 to 2020, Sara worked as an Early Childhood Education Specialist at Vallejo City Unified School District. Sara specifically taught preschool special education students with autism and served as the classroom teacher for morning and afternoon classes. Due to the COVID pandemic, they transitioned to virtual teaching from March 2020 to June 2020.

In 2020, Sara joined the Napa County Office of Education as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. Sara led the preschool inclusion program for ages 3-5 and also served as a resource teacher for state preschool classrooms on site. Due to the pandemic, they taught virtually from August 2020 to August 2021. Sara'sresponsibilities at the office included virtual parent coaching, IEP case management, and direct instruction.

Currently, Sara is working at Napa Valley Unified School District as a Transitional Kindergarten Teacher in the Ed Specialist Intensive Needs Classroom. Sara started in July 2023, and further details about their role are not provided.

Sara Featherstone's education history includes a Master's of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree in Education and Teaching, which they obtained from UMass Global in 2023-2024. Prior to that, they earned an Early Childhood Special Education Credential from UMass Global in 2019-2021, specializing in Special Education and Teaching. In 1999, they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology from San Francisco State University. Additionally, they hold a Site Supervisor Permit in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from Napa Valley College.
