Maari Carter serves as an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Tennessee at Martin since August 2021. Currently, Maari is also the Associate Poetry Editor at Narrative Magazine and has previously held roles such as Screener for the Miller Williams Poetry Prize at The University of Arkansas Press and various positions at The Southeast Review, including Poetry Editor. Maari has experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Florida State University, teaching a range of courses in writing and literature, as well as a Visiting Professor at Thomas University. Educational credentials include a PhD in English-Creative Writing and an MFA in Creative Writing, both from Florida State University, along with a BA in English from the University of Mississippi.
