NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Douglas Hofmann is a Senior Research Scientist and Principal at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where contributions to space exploration and research have garnered international recognition. As Principal Investigator for the FAMIS flight experiment to the International Space Station, Hofmann also serves as a cost account manager and scientist for the Mars Sample Return Mission. In addition to a significant role in technology infusion on JPL's Architecture Team, Hofmann specializes in materials science, particularly in metallic glasses, manufacturing technologies, and micrometeoroid shielding. Hofmann co-founded Amorphology, Inc., a Caltech startup focused on commercializing amorphous metal gear technology, and leads Metallic Glass Consulting, LLC.
