Bill Gratzl

Bill Gratzl is currently an AST Pyrotechnic Systems Engineer at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, where they provide subject matter expertise and engineering support for pyrotechnic devices and firing system avionics for visiting vehicles docking to the ISS. Previously, Gratzl held various roles, including Manager of Initiator Assembly at Chemring Energetic Devices, where they developed and qualified manufacturing lines and coordinated technical support for customers like NASA and SpaceX. They also worked as an Aerospace Research Assistant at the University of Arizona, constructing aircraft components, and completed internships as a Manufacturing Engineer at Dynomax Inc. and a Lab Assistant at the City of Wood Dale Water Treatment Facility. Gratzl earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2012.
