Debra Needham

Program Scientist, Exploration Science Strategy and Integration Office

Debra Needham is currently a Program Scientist at NASA's Exploration Science Strategy and Integration Office, where they develop science strategy and integrate science into both human and robotic exploration endeavors. They previously served as a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at USRA/GSFC from 2015 to 2020 and held the position of Research Scientist and Planetary Science Integration Lead at NASA MSFC during the same timeframe. Debra earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from Pomona College and both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Brown University. Their research has focused on surface processes on planetary bodies, including dynamics of lava flows and volcanic volatiles on the Moon.
