Patrick Duran is a Research Physical Scientist at NASA's Short-Term Prediction Research and Transition (SPoRT) Center since September 2019, where responsibilities include managing a diversified team engaged in tropical meteorology research and applications. Prior to this role, Patrick served as a Research Associate III at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, focusing on the detection of secondary wind maxima in tropical cyclones through NASA's Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System. Earlier experience includes a Graduate Research Assistant position at The Research Foundation for SUNY, investigating hurricane structures and participating in significant tropical cyclone research campaigns. Patrick holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University at Albany and a B.S. in Meteorology from the Florida Institute of Technology.
