Peter Stokes

Senior Capstone Project

Peter Stokes is an accomplished engineer with a dual degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, where studies were completed between 2018 and 2022. Currently serving as a Principal Investigator for NASA's funded cold welding research, Peter has successfully secured funding for innovative projects aimed at preventing oxide formation in metals intended for space applications. In addition to this role, Peter is involved in designing a weight-relieving device for NASA's X-Hab program and has participated in the L'SPACE Mission Concept Academy to hone mission development skills. As a Research Assistant at the University of Connecticut, Peter collaborates on projects to enhance the structural integrity of extra-terrestrial habitats. Furthermore, Peter holds leadership positions with UConn Men's Rugby, managing administrative tasks and media presence, while also gaining industry experience through internships at KT Corporation, NASA Langley Research Center, and r4 Technologies.
