Robert Amaro is currently a Principal Research Engineer at Advanced Materials Testing & Technologies, a position held since 2020. They have been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at The University of Alabama since 2017, focusing on the characterization and modeling of various fatigue processes in metals. Previously, they managed the Advanced Material Technologies Group at Southern Research from 2019 to 2020 and served as a Materials Research Scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology from 2011 to 2014. Robert holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where they also earned their Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and an Associate of Science degree from Pima Community College. Additionally, they engage as a Faculty Fellow at NASA, working on the characterization and modeling of friction stir welds for the NASA SLS platform.
