Sean Ployd

Avian Keeper II at Nashville Zoo

Sean Ployd is an experienced animal care professional with a strong background in avian management and animal education. Currently serving as an Avian Keeper II at Nashville Zoo since June 2011, Sean oversees the daily care of a diverse bird collection, including species such as rhinoceros hornbills and African fish eagles, while also maintaining exhibit conditions and training birds through operant conditioning. Previously, as an Educator at Philadelphia Zoo from May 2005 to June 2011, Sean focused on public education regarding endangered species and managed an ectotherm collection. Earlier roles include Laboratory Assistant at Saint Francis University and Kennel Assistant at Ridge Crest Kennel. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Francis University.
