Nanette Ecker

Director, Sexual And Reproductive Health Program at Nassau University Medical Center

Nanette Ecker has extensive experience in the fields of sexual and reproductive health, education, and advocacy. Nanette has worked in various roles and organizations, starting with their current position as the Willow Pond Park Commissioner at the Village of Hewlett Harbor since 2018. Prior to that, they served as the Director of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Program at Nassau Health Care Corporation/NuHealth System from 2010. In 2009, Nanette worked as a Technical Advisor and Consultant for UNESCO, where they played a significant role in authoring "The International Guidance on Sexuality Education," a publication promoting sexual and reproductive health as a human right. Nanette also served as the Director of International Education and Training at the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) from 2006 to 2009. Before that, Nanette held the position of Director of International Programs/Director of Training and Education at Planned Parenthood of Nassau County from 1992 to 2006. Nanette was recognized with Planned Parenthood Federation of America's Award for Excellence in International Affairs for their efforts in strengthening the agency's domestic and international education, advocacy, and training initiatives. Nanette's career began at Margaret Sanger Center International (MSCI) of Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC) in 1984, where they served as the Manager of Special Projects and a sexual and reproductive health consultant. Throughout their career, they have focused on promoting sexual health information and prevention services, increasing access to comprehensive sexuality education, and advocating for the rights of stigmatized populations.

Nanette Ecker holds a Master's degree in International Health and Human Sexuality from New York University. Nanette also has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Anthropology from the University at Buffalo.
