National Association of Attorneys General

The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) is the nonpartisan national forum for America’s attorneys general and their staff. NAAG provides a community for members to collaboratively address issues important to their work, including anticorruption, consumer protection, tobacco, and more. NAAG also provides resources to support attorney general offices in protecting the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution. What is an attorney general? All 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have an attorney general who serves as the chief legal officer in their jurisdiction, counsels its government agencies and legislatures, and is a representative of the public interest. Attorneys general represent their state and its residents. NAAG provides collaboration, insight, and expertise to empower and champion America’s attorneys general. NAAG’s mission is accomplished through facilitating information sharing among attorney general offices, providing strategic and legal consulting, planning and executing a continuing legal education program for state lawyers, hosting trainings and special events, publishing reports and newsletters, and serving as a liaison to the federal government. The Association offers outstanding support to the attorney general community as they serve the people in their jurisdictions and is guided by five core values: dedication; integrity; collaboration and cooperation; engagement and inclusiveness; and leadership, listening, and understanding.
