The National Association of Letter Carriers is the sole representative of 289,000 city letter carriers employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Our members deliver mail, at least six days a week, to more than 152 million homes and businesses in every city, suburb and town in America. Since it was founded in 1889 by Milwaukee Civil War veterans, the NALC has had a distinguished history as the largest of the four postal unions and is among the country's oldest. The NALC is committed to defending the rights of letter carriers before abusive supervisors, unfair presidential administrations and indifferent Congresses.
