Aurelio Ramos Borrero

Managing Director, Latin America, Caribbean And Canada at National Audubon Society

Aurelio Ramos Borrero has extensive work experience in conservation and environmental organizations. Aurelio served as the Senior Vice President for International Alliances at the National Audubon Society, where they focused on developing partnerships to further Audubon's conservation goals in the Americas, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to that, they worked at The Nature Conservancy, where they held various roles including General Manager for Latin America and Director of Conservation for Latin America. In these positions, they managed large teams and implemented strategies for sustainable food security, water security, and smart infrastructure at a continental scale. Aurelio also played a key role in establishing the Latin America Water Fund Partnership, which raised $27 million and launched 17 water funds benefiting thousands of families. Before joining The Nature Conservancy, Borrero worked at the Latin American Development Bank, where they led the implementation of the Biodiversity Program. Aurelio also worked as a consultant for the United Nations Office at Geneva and as a lead researcher at the Instituto de Investigación de Recursos Biológicos Alexander von Humboldt, where they designed and implemented the Biotrade Program in Colombia. Overall, Borrero's work experience demonstrates their expertise in conservation leadership, international partnerships, and implementing sustainable strategies for environmental protection.

Aurelio Ramos Borrero has a strong education background. Aurelio obtained a Master's degree in Environmental Economics and Natural Resources from the University of Maryland in 1995-1996. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Universidad de Los Andes, majoring in Economics from 1991 to 1995. Additionally, Aurelio had a preparatory education at Armand Hammer United World College from 1989 to 1991, focusing on Economics.
