Chris Johnson

Senior Manager, Education at National Audubon Society

Chris Johnson has a diverse work experience in the field of animal care and education. Chris started their career in 1996 at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, where they worked in various education staff positions until 2002. From 2002 to 2007, they worked as an Animal Keeper/Trainer and Interpretive Specialist at Stone Mountain Park's Antebellum Plantation. At Zoo Atlanta, they served as the Education Animal Supervisor from 2004 to 2007. Chris then moved on to the Fort Worth Zoo and worked as the Animal Outreach and Conservation Research Center Manager from 2007 to 2010. Following this, they joined Dallas Zoo as the Director of Interpretive Programs from 2010 to 2014. During their time at Dallas Zoo, they were responsible for creating a Standard Operating Procedures manual, developing an interpretive plan for a new exhibit, and expanding the animal outreach collection. Since 2014, Chris has been the owner and consultant at Elite Family Businesses, specifically focusing on Elite Pet Solutions and Elite Task-Key Personal Assistance and Odd Jobs. In 2016, they joined the National Audubon Society as the Senior Manager of Education.

Chris Johnson attended PennWest California from 1995 to 1997, where they studied Wildlife, Fish and Wildlands Science and Management. Chris then pursued a Bachelor's degree at Penn State University from 1997 to 2001, majoring in Animal BioScience.
