Nathan Newman

Nathan Newman is a seasoned professional in financial crime and regulatory compliance, currently serving as Group Executive for Financial Crime Intelligence and Risk Assessment at NAB since February 2022. Prior to this role, Nathan held key positions at AUSTRAC from April 2016 to February 2022, including National Manager of Regulatory Operations, where regulatory compliance and industry education were paramount. Nathan also functioned as Chief of Staff, overseeing strategic communications and government relations. Experience at the Australian Crime Commission involved roles such as National Manager of Strategic Intelligence and Manager of Strategy and Policy. Earlier positions included a Policy Officer at the Attorney-General's Department, focusing on critical infrastructure resilience, and a Strategic Intelligence Analyst at the Department of Defence of Australia. Nathan holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours from the University of Tasmania.
