Ioannis Vagionitis

Chief Risk Officer at National Bank of Greece

Mr. Ioannis Vagionitis was appointed General Risk Officer of the Bank and the Group (Chief Risk Officer) and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Bank in September 2017. From April 2017 he was General Manager Credit Officer while previously, in July In 2015, he was appointed Assistant General Manager Chief Credit Officer.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of Finansbank from January 2014 to May 2016 as well as a member of the Risk Management Committee, the Audit Committee and the Credit Committee of the same Bank.

From October 2010 to November 2013, he was the Director of the EIB Large Business Lending Division. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of National Factors. From May 2008 to October 2010 he was the Director of Credit and International Credit Divisions of the EIB Group while from October 2006 to May 2008 he was the Director of the Credit Division of the EIB.

He joined the Bank's staff in 2004 in the Risk Management Department of the Bank and the Group.

He has also worked at HSBC Bank during the period 1992 to 2003, and at the Bank of Cyprus during the period 2003 to 2004 in positions of responsibility in the field of corporate banking.

He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and an MBA from the Manchester Business School.
