Dr. Paula Walker (aka Dr. Paula) is an award-winning educator, double board-certified Lifestyle Medicine and Public Health physician, wellness advocate, health coach, author and transformational leader.
She has taught at both private and public universities, and altogether has been teaching in higher education since 2004. Currently, Dr. Paula is at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government studying public policy and refining her role in healthcare leadership. Dr. Paula is committed to advocacy and writing public policy as the most upstream interventions that can be done to improve health and wellness in human populations.
Dr. Paula earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University, and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at St. John Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Paula earned her Master of Public Health degree from Emory University and her Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University.
Dr. Paula is passionate about health promotion and using evidence-based methods to prevent disease and to stay healthy naturally. Dr. Paula has presented extensively on prevention science. She is a medical contributor a WTVM, an ABC television affiliate in Columbus, Georgia, where she writes and appears in a weekly TV health segment titled “Wellness Wednesday”. Every week, Dr. Paula reaches over 250,000 residents in the Columbus, GA metropolitan area and millions of other viewers across the nation, via additional ABC-TV affiliates, with her weekly broadcast where she teaches about various aspects of Lifestyle Medicine, including plant-based nutrition, exercise, and emotional wellness.
As a consultant, Dr. Paula has collaborated with health systems and communities to develop initiatives that center on therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC) as a path to stronger population health.
In addition to being a NBC-HWC health coach at Vida Medical, Dr. Paula is board-certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners and is a nationally accredited Master Certified Health Education Specialist. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Paula has also earned the American College of Sports Medicine Exercise is Medicine Credential®.
Dr. Paula is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She has completed the Certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurship at Cornell University and is the author of the bestselling book, Lead Well: Seven Dimensions of Wellness for Women in Leadership.
