Peggy Brookins

President & Chief Executive Officer at National Board for Professional Teaching Standards

Peggy Brookins, NBCT, serves as the President and CEO of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards since October 2014 and is an active board member in various educational organizations, including the National Center on Education and the Economy and Fund for Teachers. Nominated by President Barack Obama, Peggy is a member of the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans. With extensive experience in STEM education and Common Core standards, Peggy has been a National Trainer for the American Federation of Teachers and has contributed to developments in middle school mathematics instruction. Additionally, Peggy has held roles such as Beginning Teacher Trainer for Marion County School Board and cofounded the Engineering and Manufacturing Institute of Technology, emphasizing a hands-on approach to engineering education. Peggy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and has renewed National Board certification in AYA Mathematics.
