Phal Mantha

Board Member at National Center for Appropriate Technology

Phal Mantha is a current board member of the National Center for Appropriate Technology and a former farm manager. Phal has experience in designing, constructing, and operating multi-acre irrigation and trellis systems for the field production of vegetables. Phal has also managed operations, pricing, and sales for the Peckham farm market store. In addition, Phal has trained “at-risk” youth and people with disabilities in agricultural practices and basic farm management.

In 2017, Phal became the farm manager for Inn at Perry Cabin by Belmond. Phal was responsible for designing Perry Cabin Farm from the ground up, utilizing advanced production methodologies to establish the highest levels of food quality, safety, and trace ability. Phal also worked closely with multiple key stakeholders such as the Town of St. Michael's, Talbot County Soil Conservation District, and the Talbot County Health Department to ensure that all regulations and Best Management Practices were followed in the design and establishment of Perry Cabin Farm.

In 2018, Phal left their position as farm manager at Inn at Perry Cabin by Belmond to join the National Center for Appropriate Technology as a board member.

Phal Mantha graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and Agriscience. Phal then went on to earn their Executive Masters in Natural Resources from the Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability at Virginia Tech.
