Jennifer Ganem

Counsel at National Democratic Institute

Jennifer Ganem is a lawyer with more than 18 years of experience in supporting programs to strengthen democratic institutions and human rights and serves as Counsel for NDI. Prior to this position Ms. Ganem served as Senior Advisor as well as Deputy Director for Asia Programs at the Institute. In her initial position at NDI she opened and managed the Institute’s first office in Indonesia where she helped to oversee NDI’s programs in support of the first democratic elections in that country. Before joining NDI, Ms. Ganem worked on issues related to freedom of association and freedom of expression in Indonesia with Human Rights Watch and legal reform of the Indonesian anti-monopoly statutes with the Indonesian Ministry of Finance. Earlier in her career, Ms. Ganem represented refugees seeking political asylum in the United States. Ms. Ganem holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and an M.A.L.D from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
