Dónal Fitzpatrick currently serves as a Senior ICT Design Advisor at the National Disability Authority since October 2021. Prior to this role, Dónal was an Assistant Professor at Dublin City University from August 2001 to September 2021, contributing as a faculty member in the School of Computing. Dónal's academic career began as a Lecturer at the National College of Ireland from September 1999 to September 2000. Dónal holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from Dublin City University, obtained between 1995 and 1999, as well as a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Computer Science from the same institution, earned from 1991 to 1995.

National Disability Authority
The National Disability Authority is the lead state agency on disability issues and is charged with promoting and helping to secure the rights of persons with disabilities. The Authority plays a vital role in advising Government on disability policy, research and standards and ensures the continued monitoring of implementation of standards and services.
