Michelle Thompson-Dolberry

Michelle Thompson-Dolberry serves as Vice President of Strategic I&D Partnerships at American Express. In this role, she is responsible for partnering closely with the Colleague Strategic Partners (CSPs) and Business Unit (BU) leaders to leaders to align I&D strategy to business priorities to help increase representation, operationalizing enterprise I&D investments across the business and elevating the organization's external presence by leveraging partnerships to amplify the brand and commitment to underrepresented groups.

Michelle most recently led Global Campus Recruiting, Diversity Recruiting and North America Talent Acquisition for American Express. She was responsible for forming an enterprise-wide vision on the role of early career talent for the organization. She also led strategic initiatives for the Global Consumer Services Group across culture, diversity and inclusion, compensation, leadership and recruitment.

Prior to returning to American Express in 2019, Michelle worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co where she was the Head of Chase Campus Pipeline Development & the Head of JPMC Black Scholars Strategy for over 2 years. In her role, she oversaw activities designed to attract, select, hire, develop and retain a strong diverse pipeline of student talent.

Before joining JPMC, Michelle led Early Engagement Customer Experience Marketing for the Middle Market segment in Global Corporate Services at American Express.

She also served as the President and Chief Firestarter of her own business, EMDO Enterprises, serving the strategic and executional needs of non-profit, small and medium size organizations. She is a certified business and brand coach and serves as a trainer of small businesses. Prior to forming EMDO, Michelle was the Director of Advocacy for OPEN, where she spearheaded the strategic evolution of this conversational marketing outreach initiative that provided education tools through programs and content, driven by strategic alliances with leading business associations. The initiative was designed to elevate brand receptivity and awareness of small business products and services in targeted business segments.

Previously, Michelle served as a Director of Human Resources at American Express, where she specialized in change management, employee engagement, talent development and leader effectiveness. Prior to Amex, Michelle gained additional HR experience in other financial services organizations, including working in London with Credit Suisse.

Michelle also finds time to sit on the Board of Smile Farms, a nonprofit whose mission is to provide people with developmental disabilities meaningful work in agricultural settings to reduce their unemployment rate and Determined To Educate, Inc, a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring and motivating under-served youth. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Penn State’s Smeal School of Business. She lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband James, daughter Kennedy (11) and dog Duke and Pandemic Puppy, Ellie. They are all avid Eagles fans!
