Saher Ahmed

Saher Ahmed is currently the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, a position held since April 2015. In addition, Saher serves as an expert member on the Equity Scrutiny Group at the National Emergencies Trust since January 2021, participating in this volunteer role. Previously, Saher worked as the Research, Development and Commercial Services Manager at Anglia Ruskin University from April 2012 to April 2015, focusing on strategic development and marketing activities related to research and business. Prior experience also includes serving as the National HE STEM Programme Manager at the Institute of Physics from September 2005 to April 2012, where Saher oversaw a significant financial contribution to the national HE STEM Programme and managed projects aimed at improving diversity and inclusion in physics and science. Saher holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics from the University of Birmingham, as well as a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics from the same institution and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physics from the University of York.
