John Hayowyk Jr. is an experienced fire service professional with a diverse background in education, advocacy, and operational leadership. Currently serving as a Fire Service Instructor at Sussex County Community College since January 2002, John also holds the role of Lead Advocate for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, a position held since May 2016. Additional responsibilities include being a Trustee for the New Jersey State Fire Chief's Association and owning Beyond the Basics Fire Training, both roles held since 2022 and 2016, respectively. John's extensive career includes serving as Battalion Chief for the City of Passaic Fire Department for over 22 years, along with roles as Marine Safety Officer and Fire Inspector. Education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies from John Jay College and an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science from County College of Morris.
