National Gallery of Art
George Merck is a prominent American collector and philanthropist, actively involved in the arts and cultural sectors. Currently serving on the Collectors Committee at the National Gallery of Art and as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Norton Museum of Art, Merck also chairs the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution. With a history of leadership and community engagement, Merck founded the George Merck Art Collection, recognized as a significant repository of Light and Space art in the southeastern United States. Previous experience includes partnerships and consultancy roles in various businesses, as well as co-founding a charitable organization focused on aiding conflict-affected communities in Sudan. Merck holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Southern Methodist University.
