Matthew Steele

Matthew Steele is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the infrastructure and energy sectors. As Chief Operating Officer at National Gas since April 2024, Matthew oversees critical operations, building on a robust background as Managing Director at Balfour Beatty plc from December 2018 to April 2024, where strategic leadership encompassed energy transition projects and substantial infrastructure portfolios. Prior roles included directing commercial functions at Network Rail, managing major programs such as the £3 billion Crossrail initiative, and overseeing communications infrastructure for Britain's railway. Additional experience spans leadership positions in organizations such as Transport for London and Metronet Rail.
