Essie Wagner

Essie Wagner has extensive work experience in the field of traffic safety research and policy. Essie started at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in 2002 as an Older Driver Program Analyst and gradually progressed through various roles within the organization. In 2013, they became a Special Assistant, and then in 2016, they were promoted to Deputy Director of Governmental Affairs, Policy, and Strategic Planning. From 2017 to 2020, Essie served as a Research Liaison at NHTSA. Currently, they hold the position of Director of the Office of Behavioral Safety Research at NHTSA, a role they assumed in May 2020.

Essie Wagner attended Los Altos High School, although specific dates for this period are not provided. After completing high school, they enrolled at The College of Wooster from 1985 to 1989 where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Later, from 1990 to 1992, Essie attended George Mason University and obtained a Master's degree in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Human Factors.
