Robert Byrne serves as the Bioprocessing Training Manager at the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training since June 2019, overseeing the development and delivery of biopharmaceutical manufacturing courses with a specialization in downstream operations, upstream operations, and disposable technology. Prior to this role, Robert gained extensive knowledge as a Senior Bioprocessing Technical Trainer, covering a wide range of biopharmaceutical processes. Additionally, Robert is a lecturer at ATU Sligo for online modules on protein purification as well as cleaning and sterilization. Previous experience includes working as an FMT Application Specialist at Sartorius Stedim Biotech and earlier roles at NIBRT, where Robert was involved in the operation of pilot plant facilities and cell line maintenance. Robert holds a Level 9 Masters Certificate in Bioprocessing from the Institute of Technology, Sligo, and multiple degrees in the fields of medical device innovation and pharmaceutical biology.
