Karen Stakem Hornig has a diverse work experience. Karen started their career in 2005 as the Chief Solicitor for the City of Baltimore. In 2006, they joined the Baltimore Police Department as the Chief Legal Counsel. From 2008 to 2014, they served as the Deputy Commissioner for the Maryland Insurance Administration. Concurrently, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland School of Law from 2011 to 2014. Since 2014, they have been working as the Chief Executive Officer at NIPR.
Karen Stakem Hornig has a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Karen also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Additionally, they attended Bishop Walsh High School.
