Elsie Thomson

Risk and Safety Manager at National Interscholastic Cycling Association

Elsie has spent many years living out of a backpack teaching for experiential schools throughout the Rocky Mountain West and abroad. She now calls Bozeman, MT home where she is thrilled to serve the NICA community as the Risk and Safety Manager. Elsie’s own outdoor and recreation experiences have dramatically shaped her life and voice. She is passionate about outdoor and recreation experiences as influential tools for empowerment and community building. Prior to joining NICA, Elsie spent almost a decade working for a variety of other youth development and education organizations including NOLS, The Traveling School, Teton Science Schools, and the Colorado Mountain Club. Along the way, Elsie also earned a Masters in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Environmental Education and Nonprofit Management from the University of Montana.

In her free time, Elsie loves to play outside climbing and biking with her wife and dog. She can also be found tending to their backyard garden, tinkering on various house projects, and serving on the board of some local Bozeman nonprofits.
