Marvin E. Kaplan

Marvin Kaplan currently serves as Chairman and Member of the National Labor Relations Board since August 2017. Prior to this role, Kaplan was Chief Counsel at the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission from September 2015 to August 2017, where responsibilities included providing legal advice on the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Kaplan worked as Workforce Policy Counsel for the House Education and the Workforce Committee from January 2011 to September 2015, drafting significant labor and employment legislation and overseeing investigations into waste and fraud. Earlier experience includes serving as Counsel for the US House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and as Special Assistant at the Department of Labor, with a legal background that also includes time as an Associate at McDowell Rice Smith & Buchanan. Kaplan earned a Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor's Degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.
