Veronika Shime is a Senior Advisor and Vice President of International Policy and Sustainability at the National Mining Association, a position held since 2010, where Veronika leads international relations, trade policy, and sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include developing multipronged strategies, overseeing the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Task Force, and managing various advocacy efforts. In addition, Veronika serves as Vice-Chair of the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Critical Minerals and Nonferrous Metals within the U.S. Department of Commerce. Previously, Veronika worked at The World Bank from 2005 to 2010, managing the Communities and Small-scale Mining Global Partnership Program and providing community relations expertise for mining projects. Veronika also has experience as a consultant for The World Bank from 1999 to 2001. Veronika holds a Master’s Degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from Universitat Jaume I and a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Studies with a specialization in Industrial Organizational Psychology from George Mason University.
