Rachel Walcott serves as the Principal Curator of Earth Systems at National Museums Scotland since April 2011, leading a team in the research and management of a diverse collection of 70,000 minerals, rocks, and meteorites. Rachel has contributed to geo-data infrastructure development as co-chair of the Mineral Extension for Darwin Core Task Group. Prior experience includes a Royal Society of Edinburgh BP Research Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh, a Visiting Scientist position at GNS Science, and technical authoring at Midland Valley, among others. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Neotectonics from Utrecht University, an MSc in Structural Geology from the University of Otago, and a BSc(hons) in Geology and Geophysics from the same institution.
