Ben Evans

Ben Evans is an accomplished maritime leader currently serving as Acting Director of NOAA National Geodetic Survey and Director of NOAA Coast Survey. With extensive experience in various leadership roles within NOAA, including Commissioner for the Mississippi River Commission and Rear Admiral in the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps, Ben has a strong background in ocean mapping and hydrographic survey operations. Responsibilities have included strategic advisory roles, management of hydrographic survey vessels, and oversight of specialized teams to ensure quality and efficiency in ocean mapping projects. Ben holds a BA in Physics from Williams College, an Ocean Engineer degree from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and an Engineer's degree in Ocean Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
