Emily Rose has extensive experience in maritime operations and environmental science, currently serving as the Commanding Officer of the NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson since May 2018, overseeing fisheries research in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea. Previous roles include Chief of Staff at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center and Executive Officer aboard the NOAA Ship Reuben Lasker, where leadership responsibilities included management of ship operations and safety. Emily has also contributed to the NOAA Center for Coasts, Oceans, and Geophysics as an Executive Officer, focusing on site safety management and project coordination. Earlier in Emily's career at NOAA, roles included Operations Officer aboard the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer and GIS Coordinator within the National Marine Fisheries Service. Emily holds a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Management and a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, along with an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Meteorology.
