Saeed Moghimi

Saeed Moghimi, Ph.D., serves as the NOS Storm Surge Modeling Team Lead at NOAA since January 2017, where significant contributions include expanding the team and enhancing cloud-based flood forecasting systems. As the Earth System Model Coupling Lead, Moghimi has directed strategic program initiatives and advanced high-performance computing codes to improve flood prediction capabilities. Previous roles include positions at UCAR, Portland State University, and Oregon State University, focusing on coastal engineering and climate impact assessments. Moghimi's early career involved various consultancy and academic roles, emphasizing integrated coastal zone management and numerical modeling. Educational achievements include a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University and a fellowship in physical oceanography from the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research.
