Catherine Harris

Catherine Harris is a Senior Research Fellow and Delivery Lead at the National Oceanography Centre, where since August 2015, the primary focus has been on developing Intelligent C2 Solutions for Sustainable Operations in Marine Autonomous Systems, specifically leading a £3M project funded by NERC OCEANIDS. This involves creating infrastructure for safe automated piloting of long-range submarine gliders and autonomous underwater vehicles. Prior experience includes a role as a Demonstrator at the University of Birmingham from October 2010 to 2013, teaching various computer science modules, and a placement at the University of Southampton's Underwater Systems Laboratory, working on mapping systems for the Autosub6000 and developing models related to coral atoll formation. Catherine holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham and a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from the same institution.
