Kimia Hesabi

Co-Director of Learning & Engagement at National Philharmonic

Dr. Kimia Hesabi is an Iranian performer, educator, administrator, and the Co-Director of Learning and Engagement at the National Philharmonic. Passionate about the vast artistic capacities of the Iranian Diaspora, she has recently researched, performed, and recorded various works for viola by composers of the Iranian Diaspora. Her debut album entitled Nemāno Gaona featuring these works was released under New Focus Recordings in June 2022. Kimia is the co-founder of LyreIran, a collaborative focusing on creating and promoting free and accessible educational contents for music students around the world and specifically those in the Middle East. She is also a member of the Leadership Committee with the District New Music Coalition and works to promote the performance and appreciation of contemporary music by connecting performers, composers, institutions, and audiences located in the Washington, D.C. area through concerts, conferences, and active community building.
