Ben Russell is a Science Area Leader and Senior Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) since June 2014, specializing in radiochemistry with a focus on chemical separation and low-level ICP-MS quantification of radionuclides. Prior experience includes a PhD at the National Oceanography Centre from September 2010 to June 2014, where research involved trace level radioisotope detection and the development of procedures for solid sample analysis, partially funded by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Earlier, Ben Russell contributed to a master's project at the Interface Analysis Centre in 2009-2010, studying the geochemical associations of uranium in relation to mining pollution and site remediation. Education was completed at the University of Bristol with a degree in Environmental Geoscience in 2010.
