Neil Stansfield is an experienced leader in technology and defense sectors, currently serving as the Head of Digital Sector at the National Physical Laboratory since June 2016. Prior to this role, Neil held multiple positions at the Ministry of Defence, including Head of the Technology Innovation Centre and Strategy Adviser from August 2011 to June 2016. A tenure at the Home Office as Deputy Director spanned from January 2008 to August 2011, and earlier roles included participation in the Royal College of Defence Studies and various defense and security positions at MoD and Dstl from 1989 to 2006, focusing on areas such as maritime defense research and arms control. Academically, Neil holds a Master's Degree in International Relations and National Security Studies from King's College London and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Birmingham, along with a role as a visiting Professor in data science at Loughborough University.
