Xiaobang Shang

Xiaobang Shang is a Principal Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) since October 2017, focusing on electrical measurements at microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz frequencies for telecoms and quantum technologies. Additionally, Xiaobang serves as the General TPC Chair for the EuMW 2026 Conference, is a member of the General Assembly for Group 4 countries, and has held various roles within the European Microwave Association. As a Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester, Xiaobang contributes to the School of Engineering. In the IEEE, Xiaobang is an Associate Editor for the Microwave and Wireless Technology Letters and a Senior Member. Previously, Xiaobang was an Executive Committee Member of the IET RF & Microwave Technology Technical Network and conducted research as a Fellow at the University of Birmingham. Xiaobang holds a Ph.D. in Microwave Engineering from the University of Birmingham and two Bachelor's degrees in Electronic and Communication Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering.
