Sarah Oakes

Sarah Oakes is an accomplished media and communications professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as the Director of External Relations at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra since August 2022, Sarah previously held the position of Director of Communications, Marketing and Partnerships at the Museum of Australian Democracy, where strategic branding and fundraising efforts were key responsibilities. Notably, Sarah was Editor-in-Chief of several prominent publications, including Gourmet Traveller and Daily Life, leading successful relaunches and strategic initiatives. Sarah's earlier roles include pivotal positions at Bauer Media Australia and Pacific Magazines, where innovative editorial strategies were developed for leading women's and teen magazines. Sarah holds a BA in Communications, Journalism, and Politics from the University of Canberra.
