Lauren McCool is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in education and support within the speech and debate community. Currently serving as a Coach Support Specialist at the National Speech & Debate Association since August 2017, Lauren focuses on creating inclusive systems and resources for coaches. Previous roles within the NSDA include Leadership and Education Specialist, emphasizing district leader support, and Education & Recognition Coordinator. Lauren's earlier experience includes serving as Director of Forensics at Des Moines Public Schools, where responsibilities encompassed developing a competitive speech and debate program, curriculum design, and community engagement. Lauren holds a BFA in Theatre Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, an MA in Theatre and Performance Studies from Bowling Green State University, and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction focused on English as a Second Language from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
