James Brown is a seasoned professional in the field of archaeology with extensive experience in community engagement and education. Currently serving as a Regional Archaeologist for the National Trust since January 2020, James previously held multiple roles at the New Forest National Park Authority, including Community Archaeologist and Sustainable Transport Officer, where responsibilities encompassed project management in heritage and sustainable transport initiatives. Notable projects include managing the New Forest Remembers project focused on World War II history and working as a Community Engagement Officer for the Our Past, Our Future Landscape Partnership Scheme. Early career experiences included archaeological excavation and outreach within Northamptonshire Archaeology. James holds a Master’s degree in Maritime Archaeology from the University of Southampton and a Bachelor's degree in Ancient History & Archaeology from the University of Exeter.
