Diane joined the National University of Singapore as General Counsel, working in the Office of the President, in 2004. She played a key role in the setting up of the Office of Legal Affairs in 2005 as a separate unit of the University, which represents the University in all legal matters, and provides legal counsel to the Board, senior management, academic, administrative and research units of the University and related organisations, arising from University activities.

After leaving University service in 2006 to pursue her interests in writing and editorial work, Diane returned to the University in 2007 to work with the Deputy President (Administration) on the University Town project. In 2008, she joined the Office of the President as part of the communications team for then NUS President, Professor Tan Chorh Chuan. Diane was appointed General Counsel & Director of the Office of Legal Affairs in 2010.

Diane is an alumna of NUS and received her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in 1988. She came to NUS from private practice, and was a partner in Singapore’s oldest law practice, with extensive experience in corporate and commercial, employment and real property law. She also served as Executive Director of a mid-sized law firm, overseeing its human resource, finance, IT and administrative functions. Diane was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1989.
