Leong Ching

Vice Provost, Student Life at National University of Singapore

Associate Professor Leong Ching is Vice Provost (Student Life) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). She is also concurrently Dean of the Office of Student Affairs.

Assoc Prof Leong’s research interests include water policies, environmental behaviour, public sector reform, and communications strategies. Her current research project includes the use of smart meter to motivate reduced water use, negative spillovers in response to non-economic incentives, and the impact of narratives on governance. She also researches on Asian countries and cities including China, Jakarta and Manila, in addition to Singapore.

Assoc Prof Leong’s teaching interests include Public Management, Leadership and Logic. She teaches a course “Urban Water Governance” at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS, and is the resident advisor at College Green hostel.

She also writes widely on water issues in the media with articles in national newspapers and specialised water journals. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory (JPART), Global Environmental Change, and International Journal of Water Resources Management. Her commentaries have been published in The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, The Jakarta Post, China Daily, as well as newspapers in Singapore.
