Deena Shakir

Deena Shakir is the Director at National Venture Capital Association. Deena has over 10 years of experience in the venture capital industry. Prior to their current role, they were a Partner at Lux Capital, where they focused on investing in early-stage health and wellness companies.

Shakir started their career as a strategy consultant at Alife Health, where they worked with clients in the healthcare industry. Deena then transitioned to the startup world, co-founding Shiru, a social network for professionals, and SteadyMD, an online primary care platform.

Deena has also served as a Lecturer at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where they taught classes on entrepreneurship and venture capital. In their free time, Shakir serves on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations.
