Omer Ikram is currently serving as the Regional Manager for Ontario at the National Zakat Foundation Canada, focusing on community development since September 2023. Prior to this role, Omer held senior positions in corporate banking, including Executive Director at First Abu Dhabi Bank from September 2017 to October 2021 and Unit Head at FGB from September 2015 to September 2017. Omer's earlier experience includes significant roles at Mashreq Bank, where responsibilities included managing a diverse corporate portfolio and serving as Team Leader for Emerging Corporates, as well as an Assistant Vice President. Omer's banking career commenced as an Assistant Relationship Manager at Mashreq and a Relationship Associate at UBL, handling substantial corporate client portfolios. Omer's educational background includes a degree from CBM and attendance at St. Pauls.

National Zakat Foundation Canada began in 2013 and has easily become a ground-breaking initiative that utilizes Zakat funds to support locally deserving recipients across Canada in charity. - Our Work - Through the years, we have distributed well over $5 million in Zakat services and Sadaqah. By providing financial assistance nationally, we have been able to help vulnerable Muslims including new converts, widows, orphans, refugees, the aged as well as the homeless. Our work covers five core areas that together form an end-to-end service for the Muslim community which include: awareness, education, calculation, collection and distribution. - Our Mission - Our foundation works to strengthen and enhance the Canadian Muslim community’s engagement through the pillar of Zakat while aiming to become the premier Zakat institution across Canada.
