Rens Engelen

Rens Engelen has extensive work experience in the insurance and financial industry. Rens currently holds the role of Head of Retail Insurance P&C and Health Insurance at Nationale Nederlanden, where they are responsible for the retail insurance business line and the health insurance business lines of Nationale Nederlanden and OHRA. In this role, they oversee marketing, sales, product development, pricing, customer journeys, and manages business partnerships. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Retail Insurance at Nationale-Nederlanden.

Before joining Nationale Nederlanden, Rens worked at NN Group as the Business Manager to the Chief of Organisation & Corporate Relations, where they provided day-to-day support to the COCR in handling corporate relations, sustainability, branding, human resources, and facility management functions.

At ABN AMRO Verzekeringen, Rens held two managerial positions. Rens was a Manager of Sales, responsible for a team of insurance advisors in various sectors. Rens also served as the Manager of Claimhandling, overseeing a claim handling team.

Rens began their career at Delta Lloyd through their Management Trainee program, which focused on developing future managers and leaders. The program included assignments across different divisions, training, mentorship, and personal development.

Rens also gained experience at Nationale Postcode Loterij, where they held various roles including Project Lead Retention, Supervisor of Customer Service, and Sales.

Rens Engelen has a diverse education history. In 2020, they attended INSEAD for a course in Leadership Communication with Impact. In the previous year, they completed a Masterclass in Crisis Communication at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. In 2018, they participated in a Leadership Development Program at Nyenrode Business University. Earlier, from 2013 to 2015, they pursued a Management Development program at VDS. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Communication Science from the University of Amsterdam in 2013, following a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the same university, which they earned from 2008 to 2012. Their educational journey began with pre-university education at Cals College from 2004 to 2007. Additionally, they have certifications as an "Adviseur Inkomenverzekeringen" obtained from Opleidingsinstituut Lindenhaeghe in April 2017 and as an "Adviseur Schadeverzekeringen Zakelijk" obtained in April 2015 from the same institution.
