Maaike Peters

Maaike Peters has extensive experience in the legal field, currently serving as an Onderzoeker at Nationale ombudsman since August 2022, while simultaneously holding the position of rechter-plaatsvervanger at Rechtbank Den Haag since May 2019. In addition, Maaike has been a Wetenschappelijk Medewerker at Hoge Raad der Nederlanden since August 2015. Previous roles include Research and Teaching Assistant at KU Leuven from September 2013 to July 2015, and Junior-researcher at Tilburg University from January 2013 to January 2014, where research focused on the administrative approach to crime in Europe. Earlier experience includes a position as a Paralegal at Van Berge Henegouwen Advocaten in 2012, and a Junior-researcher and tutor role at Maastricht University from September 2007 to June 2012, which involved qualitative and quantitative research on police cooperation in the Meuse-Rhine euregion. Educational qualifications include a Master in Nederlands Recht with a specialization in Strafrecht and Vrij Profiel from Maastricht University, and a VWO degree from Dominicus College Nijmegen. Additionally, Maaike interned at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Canberra in 2009.
